iPhone SE 2022 price, review, and full specifications

iPhone SE 2022 price, review, and full specifications. The Apple iPhone 3 SE features a 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD display, with True Tone to match the ambient lighting in a room, Wide color, Dolby Vision, and HDR10. Available in Starlight, Midnight, and (PRODUCT)RED, the iPhone SE is built with a glass front and back with a color-matched aluminum band. Wireless charging is supported and it features IP67 water and dust resistance so it can hold up to splashes, accidental spills, and even brief submersions in water.

It also features more durable front and back glass, making it less prone to breakage than the second-generation iPhone SE. As it is modeled after the iPhone 8 and prior iPhone SE, the 2022 iPhone SE continues to feature thick top and bottom display bezels and is the sole remaining iPhone model to do so. The top bezel houses the 7-megapixel ƒ/2.2 front-facing camera and microphone while the bottom bezel includes a Touch ID Home button for fingerprint-based biometric authentication.

In terms of performance, the iPhone SE is on par with the iPhone 13 because it uses the same A15 Bionic chip as Apple’s flagship iPhones. The A15 features a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine. According to Apple, the A15 offers up to 1.2x faster graphics performance compared to the A13 in the prior model, plus it has 4GB RAM, up from 3GB in the prior model.

Along with the new A15 chip, the other major upgrade to the iPhone SE is 5G connectivity. The iPhone SE is now compatible with 5G networks, but unlike the flagship iPhone models, it does not support the fastest mmWave 5G networks. Instead, it is limited to the slower but more widespread Sub-6GHz 5G networks.

Here are the five easy points to understand the iPhone SE 3 2022:

  1. Apple has packed the iPhone SE 3 with the same 4.7 inch display which is IP67 rated. The circular Touch ID continues in iPhone SE 3 and the Face ID can’t be seen now.
  2. iPhone SE 3 gets the same 12MP rear camera and the 7MP front camera. No change here either.
  3. The only highlight remains the usage of A15 Bionic chipset which is currently being used in the iPhone 13 series. The 5G-enabled 4nm chipset is coupled with iOS 15.
  4. The battery is still unknown to us but Apple claims that it can go for a day due to the A15 chipset.
  5. The Apple iPhone SE 3 2022 will cost $429, £419, AUS $719, ₦200,000, and ₹43,900 for the 64GB.

iPhone SE 2022 Review

Here’s everything you need to know about the iPhone SE (2022).

iPhone SE (2022) performance review

The iPhone SE (2022) features the same A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13, just in a smaller body. That means best-in-class performance in a phone that costs just $429, which is nothing to sneeze at. You won’t find anything that will perform this well at this price point.

The A15 Bionic makes the iPhone SE (2022) 1.8x faster than the iPhone 8 and it enables all of the latest iOS 15 AI tasks, like Live Text and on-device Siri and dictation. The A15 has a powerful image signal processor that enables Photographic Styles and super fast picture processing. The GPU will fly through any game you can throw at it, even the most demanding Apple Arcade titles. And with 5G onboard, you can play anywhere with reduced latency, given you have a strong signal.

We’ve also since discovered that Apple has boosted the RAM slightly from the previous model. It now seems to have 4GB instead of 3GB. That’s not a lot compared to what Android phones offer, but that’s just how Apple builds its phones it seems. Either way, more RAM is good news, meaning smoother multi-tasking when swapping between apps, browser tabs, and so on. The bad news is that the iPhone SE 2022 does not support mmWave 5G, so you won’t be able to enjoy the fastest speeds on Verizon’s 5G network.

iPhone SE (2022) cameras review

The iPhone SE 2020 takes good-looking photos, thanks to Apple’s computational photography, but it packs only a single lens. That hasn’t changed with the iPhone SE (2022). This year, you get a 12MP (f/1.8) sensor and that’s it. There’s no ultrawide or telephoto lens here. Thanks to the A15 Bionic, however, the iPhone SE (2022) enjoys many of the latest computational photography advancements that Apple has made recently. That includes Photographic Styles, which are like real-time filters that dynamically adjust based on your conditions.

The phone also supports Smart HDR 4 and Deep Fusion for richer colors, stronger contrast, and sharper details. Videos will also see an improvement over the previous SE, with truer skin tones, better white balance, and less noise. Unfortunately, the iPhone SE 2022 does not support Night mode, which is a pretty big missing feature. So you should not be able to get good-looking photos in very low light, although we will test the camera to see how it performs.

iPhone SE (2022) battery and charging review

A notable weakness for the most recent iPhone SE was the battery life. The iPhone SE (2020) managed 9 hours and 18 minutes, and that was over 4G. Fortunately, the A15 Bionic processor should help the iPhone SE be more efficient, and it seems like Apple thinks so, too. While we don’t know the official capacity, Apple says the iPhone SE (2022) features better battery life than its predecessor. We hope that means more than 10 hours in our battery test because 5G is a hungry beast. The iPhone SE (2022) supports “fast charging,” but we don’t know the exact wattage right now.
