Learn how to change the text to speech voice on TikTok, latest TikTok tips & tricks. Here’s what you should know about TikTok’s Text-to-Speech feature and how to use it in your videos.

TikTok has gone through multiple evolutions on its way to carving out one heck of space for itself in the social media space.

What is the TikTok Text-to-Speech? TikTok Text-to-Speech allows you to turn any piece of text you put on top of your video into a Siri-sounding voice.

TikTok’s text-to-speech feature allows video creators to add a Siri-like voice that reads text aloud as it appears in a video.

There is an entire trend on TikTok that revolves around this robotic voice acting out group text conversations between friends. The possibilities to get creative with this effect are endless.

Using the text-to-speech feature on TikTok is quite easy. To start with the TikTok Text-to-Speech guide, launch the app on your phone and follow these steps:

  1. Press the + button at the bottom of the screen to create a new video.
  2. Record a video as you normally would.
  3. Press the red tick once you’re finished.
  4. On the next screen, press the Text button at the bottom and type in the text you want to be read out loud. Make sure that the text is not too long. If it takes more time to say it than the length of your video, it will be cut in the middle.
  5. Drag the text box to where you want it to appear on the screen.
  6. To turn the Text-to-Speech option on, tap on the text box and choose it from the pop-up menu.

If you want to remove the original sound from the recording so that the Siri narration is the only thing left, tap the Sound button at the bottom left. Then tap Volume.

You can set the original volume to anything between 100% to 0%. You can also choose to add a popular sound from the TikTok library in the Added Sound screen, to help your video perform better.

How to use text-to-speech on TikTok Videos

Text-to-speech is one of the newer ones to arrive after being announced in December, alongside other changes also designed to improve community well-being.

Getting started with the new feature is pretty simple as the user just needs to make the video as normal, including typing the text exactly as they would when not using text-to-speech.

Once the text is finished and added, tapping on the text box on the screen will open an additional options menu.

From here, the TikTokker can simply tap on the “text-to-speech” option to apply the TikTok effect. After which, a voice will read out the typed text when the video is watched by others.

TikTok just got a new female text-to-speech voice

TikTok has a new female text-to-speech voice after an actor sued the company claiming her voice was being used without her permission.

While TikTok has not made a comment about the new voice, Insider tried using the voice-to-text feature on TikTok and confirmed there is a new female voice.

TikTok originally rolled out the text-to-speech feature, which allows users to convert typed on-screen captions to automated speech, in late 2020.

It’s not clear if this new voice has rolled out to all users, or if the old text-to-speech voice will still be available. Reports of the new voice began to appear on TikTok on Monday, with users questioning the reason for the change.
