Apple has not given details about the total charging time of their AirPods. It seems that the time it takes for AirPods to charge from 0% to 100% when placed in their charging case depends on the AirPods model you own.

According to user reports, the AirPods (1st generation) fully charge within 17 minutes. The AirPods (2nd generation) are similar, getting to a full charge having been popped inside their case for around 20 minutes, according to Music Critic.

Be sure to place your case on the charger with the status light facing up and with the lid closed. The status light should show the current charge level for 8 seconds. If you have AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation), you can tap the case when it’s on the charging mat to see whether your AirPods Pro or AirPods (3rd generation) are charging (amber light) or fully charged (green light).
